Module 2 · Learning Management Systems and HyFlex
Discussion space for Module 2. Your learning management system is the backbone of HyFlex instruction: it carries communication, collaboration, reflection, feedback and progress monitoring across all three participation modes. Each lesson in this module has one topic here. Post your own reflection, read what other participants wrote, and respond to at least one colleague. Every institution runs a different platform and every course leans on different tools, so the differences between your answers are where the useful conversation starts.

Module 3 · Using AI for Facilitating HyFlex Learning
Students already hear about generative AI from their peers, their feeds and their other courses. This module is about making that use visible, ethical and useful in a HyFlex classroom, in every mode.
Three lessons and a wrap-up. Lesson 1 sorts out what "AI" refers to, why generative AI is the kind that matters for teaching, and the five big-picture considerations, with two mindsets, that belong in view before any tool touches a course. Lesson 2 puts the tool to work as a co-designer: backwards design from a unit's outcome, eight design areas, and a clear line between what the tool drafts and what the instructor keeps. Lesson 3 turns to the other side of the desk: ten ways students use these tools, the A.U.D.I.T. prompt chain, sequencing and equity, and two ethical cases with no comfortable answer.
Each lesson opens with a short audio briefing, works through interactive walkthroughs and figures, and ends with an AI-supported task you keep: an accessibility review of a colleague's plan, an audited unit roadmap, a student guide with its prompt chain. Knowledge checks close every lesson; a ten-question quiz closes the module. About four hours in total.
The thread throughout: augmenting, not replacing.
The discussion space for Module 3. Three topics, one per lesson: an accessibility review of a colleague's plan, a defence of an ethical decision under a deadline, and a student case with your own plus-one guide. Post as text, not as attachments. Read before you write, and reply with the three questions each lesson gives you: what works, what worries you, what you would borrow.

Module 4 · Designing HyFlex Learning Scenarios
Flexibility, inclusion and meaningful learning design, in one module. HyFlex lets students choose how they participate, face-to-face, online in real time, or asynchronously, while every learner has access to equivalent, high-quality learning experiences. This module, developed by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, shows you how to design for that.
Four lessons and a wrap-up. Lesson 1 compares face-to-face, blended and HyFlex across pedagogical design, activities, resources and evaluation, and names the three commitments that make HyFlex work: equity, a flexible community, teacher presence. Lesson 2 puts two words at the centre, alignment and effectiveness, and hands you a real case, a teamwork activity whose three modes do not lead to the same place. Lesson 3 turns to technology with TPACK, SAMR and UDL, and a Tech Match and Remix Challenge with two scenarios and fifteen tools. Lesson 4 rethinks assessment and feedback from uniformity to equivalency, and ends with the module's main artefact: one of your own activities, redesigned in the HyFlex Activity Redesign Planner and scored with a five-criterion rubric.
Every lesson opens with the partners' own video, with transcripts and active-watching pauses; Lesson 1 adds a podcast. Each lesson ends with a forum task, an AI-supported tool you keep, and a five-question knowledge check; a ten-question quiz closes the module. A K-W-L chart opens the module and is closed in the wrap-up. About five hours in total.
The discussion space for Module 4. Five topics: the K-W-L compass that opens and closes the module, your starting point for HyFlex, the teamwork case redesign, the Tech Match and Remix Challenge, and the Redesign Planner with peer review by rubric. Post as text, not as attachments. Read before you write, and reply with the three questions each lesson gives you: what works, what worries you, what you would borrow.

Module 6 · Delivery of HyFlex Learning with AI
HyFlex gives students the choice of how they participate; artificial intelligence can help you deliver on that choice without tripling your workload. This module, developed by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, looks at four places where AI supports HyFlex delivery, and at the pedagogical and ethical conditions that make the support worth having.
Four lessons and a wrap-up. Lesson 1 is about automating educational content: generating, transforming and adapting materials so that they are flexible, accessible and scalable, with a map of AI tools organised by what they do across the HyFlex week. Lesson 2 is about personalising learning: adaptive content, early alerts, recommendations and language support, designed for four student profiles you will meet by name. Lesson 3 is about facilitating interaction: learner-content, learner-instructor and learner-learner, with a chatbot you design for one learning objective in your own course. Lesson 4 is about assessing student performance: what AI can contribute to feedback and evaluation, what it must never replace, and a critique-and-redesign task on real AI-generated feedback.
Every lesson opens with the partners' own video, with a transcript and active-watching pauses; Lesson 1 adds a podcast of faculty voices. Each lesson ends with a forum task, an AI-supported tool you keep, and a five-question knowledge check; a ten-question quiz closes the module. About three and a half hours in total.
The phrase that runs through all four: it is not about doing less, it is about doing better.
The discussion space for Module 6. Five topics: the ice-breaker on where you start from, the manual-versus-AI content sprint, a personalised pathway for one of four student profiles, a chatbot designed for one learning objective, and a critique and redesign of AI-generated feedback. Post as text, not as attachments. Read before you write, and reply with the three questions each lesson gives you: what works, what worries you, what you would borrow.

Module 7 · Evaluating HyFlex Learning
HyFlex gives students a powerful gift, the choice of how to participate; but flexibility alone does not guarantee effectiveness. This module asks how we know whether a HyFlex design actually works, and gives you the frameworks, tools and habits to find out.
Four lessons and a wrap-up. Lesson 1 asks why: equity across modes, engagement and experience, faculty reflection and sustainability, institutional accountability, and the key indicators that go beyond attendance. Lesson 2 is the how: Kirkpatrick's Four Levels and Beatty's principles of access, equivalency and engagement; surveys, focus groups, LMS analytics, performance data and peer observation; what AI adds through text analysis, sentiment, prediction and dashboards; and why no single tool tells the whole story. Lesson 3 is a case: an Introduction to Psychology course in HyFlex, three data sets, AI-supported analysis, and an action plan you write from the evidence, followed by the cycle of patterns, improvements and monitoring. Lesson 4 is your own plan: evaluation questions, framework, tools, analysis, privacy and an improvement cycle, built with an AI-supported planner and shared with colleagues.
Three instructors, Clara, Jamal and Ewa, accompany you through every lesson, and three stakeholders keep asking hard questions. Every lesson has an audio briefing with a transcript, an AI-supported tool you keep, a forum task and a five-question knowledge check; a ten-question quiz closes the module. About four and a half hours in total.
The line that runs through the module: we cannot improve what we do not measure.
The discussion space for Module 7. Five topics: what you measure and what you miss, the framework and two tools you would start with, action plans for the Introduction to Psychology case, your own evaluation plan, and the one tool you will commit to trying. Post as text, not as attachments; never include student names or identifiable data. Read before you write, and reply with the three questions each lesson gives you: what works, what worries you, what you would borrow

Module 8 · Soft Skills for HyFlex Teaching
The human side of HyFlex teaching: communication that survives three journeys to the student, empathy for circumstances you cannot see, time divided fairly between groups with competing needs, and the collaboration and reflection that stop a course repeating itself. Post the work you produced in the lessons, read at least one colleague whose context differs from yours, and come back in four weeks to say what actually happened.
Setting HyFlex up is a technical problem for about a week. After that it is a human one. This module works on the five interpersonal skills that carry a course delivered in three modes at once: communication, empathy, adaptability, time management and collaboration.
You will rate yourself honestly against twenty statements and turn the result into one change you can make next week. You will take a message you have actually sent and rewrite it so that it can be answered. You will rebuild a session that lost ten minutes, and write a recovery plan for the group that fell behind. You will draw the network you teach inside, find the gaps in it, and turn them into actions with owners and dates.
Four lessons and a wrap-up, about five and a half hours in total. Every lesson carries a video, a podcast with a downloadable transcript, an AI-supported tool that works inside the platform, a forum discussion and a knowledge check. What you produce is collected in your Delivery Kit, ready to take back to your own course.
