HyComm
KeymasterThis topic belongs to Lesson 1, step 7.
The lesson task involves listening to the podcast and, based on this, writing an entry that describes your starting point for applying the HyFlex learning approach in your specific context. You should reflect on where you would begin and identify which of the design ideas discussed in the podcast you might use as an initial step: course design adaptation across the three formats, facilitation that brings online chats into in-person discussion, shared reflection activities, technology in service of pedagogy, thinking moments, clear communication of expectations, low-bandwidth options and downloadable materials, UDL from the start, guided choice of mode.
Name the course, the level and the mode most of your students use, so that colleagues know who your students are. There is no obligation to reply to other participants’ comments, but active engagement and participation in the forum will be encouraged.
How to reply so that it is useful
Read at least one other post before you write your own, and answer it in three short parts:
1. What works: name one specific choice in the post that would help their students, and say why.
2. What worries you: point to one place where a learner in a different mode, especially the asynchronous one, could be left out, and suggest a fix.
3. What you would borrow: one idea you will take into your own course, and how you would adapt it.Post your own contribution as text in the message field rather than as an attachment, so that colleagues can read it without downloading. This is a practice task and it is not graded; the programme team reads every thread and replies where a discussion stalls.
