HyComm
KeymasterThis topic belongs to Lesson 2, step 7.
The case: Ethics in Data Science launches as a HyFlex course in ten days. Fifty case studies were drafted with a generative tool in under two hours; a sample audit of five found one factual error and a subtle, recurring bias. A full audit would take forty hours. Four options were laid out in the lesson: ethical quality over timeliness, flexibility and transparency, pragmatism and containment, institutional review and delegation.
Post your defence of the option you chose, 100 to 150 words: the option, why it best balances the needs of HyFlex design (flexibility, access) with the ethical duty of the instructor (auditing, quality control, equity), and what you accept losing, because every option gives something up.
Then read at least two colleagues’ defences, preferably of options you did not choose, and reply to one. If you also want feedback on the unit roadmap you built in the lesson, post it here as text.
How to reply so that it is useful
Read at least one other post before you write your own, and answer it in three short parts:
1. What works: name one specific choice in the post that would help their students, and say why.
2. What worries you: point to one place where a learner in a different mode, especially the asynchronous one, could be left out, and suggest a fix.
3. What you would borrow: one idea you will take into your own course, and how you would adapt it.Post your own contribution as text in the message field rather than as an attachment, so that colleagues can read it without downloading. This is a practice task and it is not graded; the programme team reads every thread and replies where a discussion stalls.
