This topic belongs to Lesson 3, step 8. One post in two parts.

Part 1, the case. Choose Alex or Sam. Alex, an asynchronous student with twelve hours and a full-time job, used a large language model to write one theory’s analysis and then spent six hours revising it, and now does not know how to document it. Sam, an in-person student in a cross-modal group, wants to use a non-approved AI project tool that scores participation from everyone’s messages, and the two asynchronous members object. What should they do, and what would you say to them as their instructor, in the mode they are in?

Part 2, your plus-one. Paste the student guide you wrote in the lesson, the one aspect of AI use you want to guide in your own course, and name the one sentence you would still change before giving it to students.

Then read others’ posts and commend or give feedback to the ones you choose, ideally someone who picked the other case. The phrase to keep in mind while you write: augmenting, not replacing.

How to reply so that it is useful

Read at least one other post before you write your own, and answer it in three short parts:

    1. What works: name one specific choice in the post that would help their students, and say why.
    2. What worries you: point to one place where a learner in a different mode, especially the asynchronous one, could be left out, and suggest a fix.
    3. What you would borrow: one idea you will take into your own course, and how you would adapt it.

Post your own contribution as text in the message field rather than as an attachment, so that colleagues can read it without downloading. This is a practice task and it is not graded; the programme team reads every thread and replies where a discussion stalls.
