Kenan Dikilitas HCC 2025 Presentation HYCOMM Needs Analysis

On 7 May 2025, the University of Bergen welcomed a delegation from Germany as part of the Hochschulforum Digitalisierung visit to Norway. The purpose of their visit was to learn more about how UiB is approaching AI and learning analytics.

As part of the program, Kenan Dikilitas, leader of the HyComm Erasmus project, presented the objectives and current progress of the project. He also highlighted how HyFlex learning and teaching designs can be enhanced by AI in higher education. The presentation soon developed into a lively discussion about how universities can use AI to support HyFlex instructional designs, as well as the ethical and practical challenges that come with it.

The visitors, Christian Hoppe, Nina Christ, Julia Geißler, and Lisa Ulzheimer, contributed diverse perspectives from German higher education. Their experiences made the conversation especially insightful, combining broader reflections with practical examples from their institutions.

Later, on 11 September, there was also a chance to meet Jonas Leschke from Ruhr-University Bochum, Zentrum für Wissenschaftsdidaktik (CTL). This meeting focused on how AI can be integrated into Hyflex course design and the ethical challenges to help teachers work more efficiently. For example, how AI-generated content should be labeled and how much generative AI should appear human-like. His views on how AI is being perceived and applied in Germany added further depth and brought in new perspectives that complemented the earlier discussions.

It was also a pleasure to have Robert Kordts, Programme Leader of University Pedagogy (UPed) at UiB, who joined and helped arrange these meetings. His critical comments and reflections on how HyComm fits into the bigger picture at UiB gave an important institutional perspective to the conversations.
