Small Exchanges, Big Insights into Flexibility in Course Design
Hi everyone!
My name is Sidney Martin. I am a teacher of English language and Principal of EOI de Tarragona. I was invited to the HyComm project meeting that took place in Barcelona on Thursday, October 3rd by the project leader, Kenan Dikilitas from University of Bergen.
My participation in their discussion on the modular design of the teacher training proved to be insightful and productive. Exchanging views on the challenges posed by the design of a hyflex course was a sign of the spirit of collaboration. There was a shared commitment to finding practical solutions and moving forward. Small exchanges were gradually shaping the design of the course. Challenges were opportunities for alignment.
Let me share with you one of the insights.
I started to think about how and why teaching and learning needs to be flexible as contexts change, which is in line with designing a flexible course which provides learning experiences that are not rigid but respond to what learners need at different times.
As the principal of EOI de Tarragona, I wish to introduce HyComm to my fellow teachers and ask them to consider Hyflex as a concept and how they could make use of its pedagogical and practical principles in their own teaching.
I left with some action points but also with a shift of perspective when designing online courses in my own context: flexibility is a plus in today’s world. Thank you for the chance to learn from others.
